With the play offs coming to an end, American football fans around the world are tuning in to watch the final match. If you’re stuck with the task of hosting this year’s Super Bowl party, you may feel like throwing such an extravaganza could be a daunting task. What special ingredients go into making the best super bowl party of the year? It’s going to take a lot more than just drinks and hors d’oeuvre.
Super bowl 50 is featuring the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos playing in Levi’s Stadium located in the San Francisco Bay Area. Both teams have fought a harrowing battle throughout the season to face off with each other to win the famed Vince Lombardi Trophy. The Super Bowl is one of the most watched sports game of the year, so why not commemorate the occasion by throwing the ultimate Super Bowl party? Here are a few steps to throwing a Super Bowl party you can invite all your friends and family to.
Since the Super Bowl happens only once a year, don’t cheap out. Naturally, you’re going to need some amazing food to feed the plethora of guests filing into your home to catch the game. If you don’t have the dough to cash out of loads of snacks and food, you could try making the ultimate Super Bowl home meal. A few game day favorites are hot wings, potato skins, sliders, nachos, guacamole, chips and dips, dips, dips galore! You could also make a fruit and veggie platter for those individuals who prefer a lighter snack to eat during the game. Get creative with your food. The Super Bowl only happens once a year and you can decorate or cater your food to reflect the teams or the location of the arena the game is being held at.
The last thing you want at your party is to run out of beer. Buying cases upon cases of beer could be space consuming. Not only that, but you could be left with a gigantic mess to clean up by the end of the party. To avoid running out of beer, stock up on either a keg or a mini keg. It’s a good idea to make sure the beer is chilled by the time the game starts. You can chill you mini-kegs overnight so that it’ll be perfectly chilled by the time kickoff happens. It’s important to keep the beer chilled since it can start losing the dissolved CO2 once it starts warming up. Also, warm beer foams like crazy – keeping it chilled will help you avoid a cloudy mess when it’s time to serve beer.
If you want to make the Super Bowl a little more interactive, you can make penalty flags for everyone to throw around during the game. You can also choose to give your guests whistles, but that’s only if you trust them enough not to abuse their new found power. Either way, the flags make sure everyone has a good time and is engaged with the game from beginning to the end.
To keep things even more interesting, you and your guests can all make prop bets. Bets can be made on just about anything you put your mind to. From the color of the gatorade at the end of the show to who’s going to be MVP of the game.
Don’t settle for anything but the best when it comes to what kind of TV you’re watching the big game on. You want to make sure that your guests are all able to clearly see every play of the game. The best part is, you get to keep it after everyone leaves. If you have a large, blank wall, you can set up a projector so that everyone can watch the game from anywhere in the room without missing a single thing.
Let’s be honest. Sometimes some of the best parts of the Super Bowl are all the crazy commercials. A great way to keep everyone involved, even during the commercials, is to have everyone rate their commercials. At the end of the game, weigh all of the votes together to see which Super Bowl commercial came out on top.
This cannot be iterated enough. Leave the kids at home or with a babysitter. Kids are cute and you can enjoy them during the rest of the year. However, don’t be that guy who bought their kids to an adult party and ruin the moment or the game for everyone. You do not want a group of little children chatting or asking you a million questions throughout the game. Besides, you definitely don’t want to keep an eye on little Timmy when he starts getting finicky.
Playing Super Bowl squares is a great way to keep things interesting before, during, and after a football game. Before the game starts, print out a sheet of squares in a 10 x 10 box. Afterwards, have your friends randomly draw numbers ranging from 0 to 9. The square that lines up with the last digit of both teams’ score at the end wins money.
